Alair Wells has a B.F.A. in Sculpture from The Atlanta College of Art and an M.F.A. in Sculpture from Louisiana State University. Alair has organized and participated in a multitude of iron casting workshops and blacksmithing events nationwide; her mixed-media installations have been exhibited in Atlanta, North Carolina, New Orleans, Chicago, Minneapolis, New York, and Seattle. She taught sculpture and installation classes at Binghamton University before relocating to Seattle in 2006. She has taught at Pratt Fine Art Center, Coyote Central, Tacoma Community College, lectured at the Bellevue Art Museum and is currently running her own metal- working business - Tinder Heart metals and design, where she also teaches private welding and blacksmithing lessons. She also formerly served as the primary sculpture/metals faculty at The Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington. She continues to show her work nationally.
